About Us

Oleander’s Garden Traditional Cottage was established in 1984-86 by Michalis Daskalakis refurbishing an old olive oil factory  located in the southeastern part of the island of Crete between the villages of Ferma and Koutsunari, 9 km from the southernmost European city of Ierapetra.

At six guest rooms were made, gradually expanded year after year to the 18 guest rooms currently.

Each of the rooms has its own specific atmosphere and comforts each in typical Cretan traditional style.

The architecture of the buildings follows the topography of the area it has compact and beautiful arrangement in harmony with the surrounding nature and the river passing through the gorge, which every winter is filled and shimmering almost until the beginning of August, following it 1.5 km further up the river you will find the picturesque waterfall of Milonas,  a local well known attraction.

The accommodation is token away from the highway little bit further up the gorge on a quiet hill side of the gorge in between old Pine trees and leafy Oleander bushes at just  10-minute walk from the beautiful and cozy beaches located on the southern coast of the island of Crete.

Right next to our beach is an ancient archaeological find from the Minoan era, the Minoan Water Tanks

In 2020, the cottage was taken by the new manager, who carried out a complete renewal and modernization of the buildings and their surroundings according to the new requirements for comfort as far as  possible due to the traditional nature of the buildings while aiming to preserve the old and traditional style and beauty of the buildings, the furniture while at the same time satisfying the new needs and requirements of the current times.
